Introduction / Context

As a full-time employee, you will be part of the Digital communications support services team at the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (SANTE). You will be responsible for the support of the EU Platform on Animal Welfare.

Your main task will be to sustain communication among the members of the platform and to provide and share online information.

Support communication activities, such as:

  • Setup of the platform content;
  • Transmission of information regarding the Platform’s functions and workflow to the members;
  • Facilitate cooperation between the members;
  • User information of new resources on specific topics;
  • Contributing to the implementation and setting up of communication;

Key responsibilities

  • Support online community management,
  • Creating, editing and uploading of online contents, for the Commission social platform and newsletters;
  • Improve the readability and usability of the content
  • Editing and proofreading new content
  • Performing editorial quality checks
  • Keeping content up-to-date
  • Develop, adapt and disseminate content to fit the specific platforms and target audiences, with relevant linguistic adaptation;
  • Manage user accesses and monitor online discussion;
  • Provide user support;
  • Manage online collaborative tools;
  • Liaising with Consortium staff management, on-site staff and EU officials.

Profile

  • Good knowledge of digital environment
  • Experience in web content design and web editing.
  • Excellent copywriting skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; particularly Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe suite (such as Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop);
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus;
  • Strong aptitude for team work and the capacity to work autonomously;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and learning skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Ability to deal with stress situations;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy;
  • General knowledge of EU institutions;
  • Able to work in an international and multicultural environment ;

Desirable

  • Preferred academic background: communications, public relations, journalism and other related studies
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with tasks closely related to those described above
  • Experience working with a range of social media platforms;
  • Knowledge of/or experience in ITIL environment
  • Video/graphic design skills for social media is a plus;
  • Knowledge of EU Policy on food safety and health;
