Description
In order to develop country specific evidences for optimal reimbursement coverage and usage, the Health Outcome Research colleague should:
- Identify available data sources (literature, international and national real-life data, local registries …) that support the clinical benefit of our company products
- Define data gaps to support the economic value of our medicines
- Design and implement outcomes research & health economic studies that fill these gaps and support key publications, reimbursement strategies along with value dossiers and submissions to various payers (INAMI, sick funds, CTG, hospitals)
- Analyse data, build reports and publish results.
- Develop/write the economic components of class-1 reimbursement submissions to a high quality and in a timely manner.
- Develop and deliver tools and messages to support marketing, access and policy strategy
- Contribute to the development of technical expertise within the Group/Company
The Health Economics and Outcomes Research colleague must partner with :
- Internal partners (market access, medical customer- solutions, public policies, medical affairs, clinical research, business, …)
o To develop real world evidence aligned to the company products that support the delivery of quality, cost efficient care specific to the various stakeholders within the Healthcare System
o To develop and support compelling product value propositions to optimize access (reimbursement filing, reimbursement revisions), reimbursement and up-take and standardise best practices.
o To give input to medical and clinical colleagues to design and implement interventional or observational studies, collect data and develop models aimed to assess how interventions affect clinical management decisions
- External stakeholders (Scientific Societies, Scientific experts, Pharmacists Associations, Sick funds, INAMI/RIZIV, KCE, other policy stakeholders …)
o To define current guidelines and gaps in scientific knowledge
o To access available real life data
o To design protocols to collect/analyse real life evidences
o To disseminate results of models models aimed to assess how interventions affect clinical management decisions.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Major degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD) in scientific discipline
- Development of Markov models (programming in Excel) and building economic models: Cost-Utility, Cost-Effectiveness and Budget-Impact models.
- A minimum of10-12 months of experience in working in Health Outcomes area and performing CE analyses and budget impact models in the pharmaceutical industry or with a CRO company (internship included) is a must.
- Good knowledge of the market access environment in Belgium
- Knowledge of the Healthcare industry including the pharmaceutical industry (market access, medical, clinical research) is a plus
- Competency in medical science, epidemiology, clinical trials, pharmacoeconomics including a deep understanding of research methods, health economics, and related disciplines is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to undertake complex analyses and to produce clear recommendations and/or reports
- Expertise in certain therapeutic area (i.e.oncology, vaccines) is of high added value
- Experience with registries and/or databases is of added value
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Excellent economic and analytical ability
- Strong collaboration in teams: Team worker within the market access and external affairs team, and also able to work cross-functional on a local and international level
- Excellent written and data analysis skills
Technical competencies: advanced knowledge of Excel- Display a clear attitude and interest in identifying new data sources, ways of working, and establishing the analysis of real-world evidence to drive business decisions
- Language:English business level, French or Dutch is a plus
- Communicate professionally, clear and open, with respect to personal diversity
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to influence others in complex networks
- Display a clear attitude and interest in identifying new data sources, ways of working, and establishing the analysis of real-world evidence to drive business decisions
- Other leadership skills
- Impact : Responsible for delivering high quality initiatives and outputs which supports the wider business to secure early access and appropriate uptake of both current and future medicines & interventions.
- Problem Solving : Identifies problems and appropriate solutions to complex issues and non-standard issues
- Influence/Liaison : Influences across complex networks of both external customers and internal stakeholders. High level of competency needed to manage interactions across multiple Merck functions.
