To strengthen our newly formed Global Biologics Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MSAT) teamin Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: MSAT lab Analytical Scientist.

As theMSAT lab Analytical Scientist you will be responsible for managing and executing all analytical lab activities and report directly to the Head of Global Biologics MSAT.

The MSAT lab covers all Upstream and Downstream aspects of the biologics drug substance manufacturing process and focuses on:

• Acquiring and maintaining process expertise for late-stage and commercial products
• Providing process expertise support
• Transferring-in and maintaining small scale models from Development
• Supporting Technology Transfers and Process Validations with lab-scale activities
• Providing deviation and investigation support through lab-scale experiments
• Supporting/leading Lifecycle Management (LCM) activities
• Evaluating new technologies

More specifically, you willcontribute by:

• Supporting the design and setup of the InfleXio MSAT lab
• Managing and performing the analytical activities in the MSAT lab
• Transferring-in and/or setting up analytical methods in the MSAT lab
• Ensuring adequate analytical equipment maintenance & qualification status
• Ensuring accurate and complete documentation of any scientific experimental plan, data and report
• Authoring and reviewing technical protocols and reports
• Ensuring that MSAT policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions are developed and kept up to date
• Ensuring that the appropriate standards of quality, housekeeping and safety are being applied within the MSAT lab
• Providing scientific leadership and ensuring analytical lab support to Technology Transfers, Process Validations, Manufacturing operations and deviations/investigations as required, by design and execution of appropriate studies
• Supporting Regulatory inspections and submissions
• Building and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders
• Establishing and maintaining familiarity with contemporary industrial standards, practices, technologies, literature and ways of performing lab studies

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
• Relevant industry experience in product quality analysis of biologics
• Technical knowledge of protein structure and function and the analytical techniques required to study them. Experience with the following analytical equipment/techniques: H-class UPLC, classical spectrophotometer, SoloVPE, PA800+, ICE3 and/or Maurice. Mass spec experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated analytical subject matter expertise
• Hands-on laboratory analytical experience
• Good understanding of biopharma operations and cGMP
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and connect with peers from different functions to ensure projects are delivered
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Good technical writing skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with a high tolerance for ambiguity
• Self-motivated, innovation mindset, initiative taker, can-do attitude, team player
• Very good knowledge of English, both oral and written; knowledge of French is a plus
